Need help navigating the FAFSA application? The Palm Desert Library in partnership with College of the Desert are proud to present a FAFSA Assistance Workshop this Spring Term. Parents and students will have the opportunity to ask questions and have a dedicated space to complete their application. 

Required Materials:

  • A completed FSA ID
  • A working laptop
 
To complete the FAFSA for the 2026-27 academic year, you will need the following required documents:
  • Social Security card and/or driver's license (or alien registration card if you are not a US citizen).

  • 2024 federal income tax returns (you can use the most recent returns you have from last year).

  • W-2s and other records of money earned.

  • Parents' income tax returns, W-2 forms, and 1040 forms if you are a dependent.

  • Records of other nontaxable income such as welfare benefits, Social Security income, veteran's benefits, military or clergy allowances.

  • Current bank and brokerage account statements (if applicable).

  • Business or investment farm records (if applicable).

    Make sure to gather these documents early to avoid any delays in the application process.
